Scanning tickets at the door
For organizers
How check-in works, what each scan result means, and scanning without an internet connection.
Where to scan
Open Check-in from your dashboard, or from the Makan app if your door staff use phones, and pick the event. Anyone with an owner, admin, manager or scanner role on your team can scan; a teammate with only the scanner role can reach this page and nothing else.
Point the camera at the ticket's QR code — the wallet pass, the app, the PDF, or the one in the confirmation email all scan the same way, since they all carry the same code.
What each result means
A valid, unused ticket is admitted right away — no separate confirmation step.
A ticket already scanned shows "already checked in", along with when and by whom, so you can tell a genuine re-entry attempt from a mix-up.
A cancelled, refunded, expired or transferred ticket is refused, with the reason shown.
A network error shows as its own state — never as valid or invalid — so staff know to simply scan again once the connection is back.
Scanning without a connection
The Makan staff app can download an event's ticket list in advance and keep scanning at the door with no signal — admissions queue up on the device and sync automatically once it's back online.
Two staff members scanning the same ticket offline, on different devices, is caught when the devices sync: the second scan is flagged as a duplicate instead of silently admitting twice.
One scan, once
Every ticket can only be checked in once — no matter how many times or from where it's scanned, only the first successful scan admits it.
